Corning’s Display Technologies segment manufactures glass substrates for active matrix liquid crystal displays (“LCDs”) that are used primarily in LCD televisions, notebook computers and flat panel desktop monitors.

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

-  In this role, you will provide supervision of the Harrodsburg operations organization. Including shift supervision coverage estimated at ~35% (could be higher/lower based on business conditions and timeframes).

-  You will define and implement improvements within operations, including lean, operational excellence, increased technical skills, safety projects and performance gains.

-  Support project/development activities such as continuous improvement activities, new process, equipment/product introductions and cost reduction projects.

-  Create, lead, and maintain training requirements for the department.

-  Achieve safety, cost, quality, and delivery targets.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

-  Schedule resources and prioritizes activities to assure efficient production schedule compliance to include development, training, experiments, and maintenance activities.

-  We provide daily direction to operations employees using established guidelines, procedures, and policies.

-  Communicate and report operations performance metrics to production teams, plant operations staff and functional leaders. Ensure that production targets and delivery requirements are met on a daily and weekly basis.

-  Ensure that the production process is operating in compliance to established process control set-points and operating procedures.

-  Develop, implement and monitor training, qualification, certification and development programs for new and experienced operators.

-  Build effective relations with plant support groups, including operations, melting, forming, BOD, quality and safety.

-  Ensure team executes documented operating procedures and follows established document control protocols.

-  Hold operators accountable for adherence to established procedures and setpoints for process control; ensures awareness and compliance to changes.

-  Receive and integrate new technologies to improve process capability while ensuring proper processes are followed. Enforce process discipline and rigorous change control.

-  Actively engage in plant safety initiatives and projects.

-  Ensure the protection of Corning’s Intellectual Property (IP).

-  Effectively support the plant’s mission to develop and advance products/processes while being a low cost manufacturer.

-  Deploy positive employee relations strategy and communicate openly and honestly with employees at all levels.

-  Adhere to national and local safety, health, and environmental rules and regulations. Effective application of rules within plant operations.

 

WORK HOURS:

-  Typical hours (M-F 0800-1700).

-  Flexible hours will be required to support manufacturing. (12 hour shift rotation is as follows: 0730 – 1930 and 1930 - 0730). Weekend Team coverage on a rotating basis.

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

-  Bachelor degree, (BS) degree (preferred)

DESIRED SKILLS:

-  Demonstrated supervisory skills within a Union facility.

-  Technical aptitude.

-  Effectively supported, or led, implementation of Lean Manufacturing techniques.

-  Participated in, or led, cross-functional teams in a manufacturing environment responsible to deliver key improvement initiative or cost reduction program.

-  Six Sigma Greenbelt or Blackbelt certification.
