Day to Day Responsibilities:
- Serve as the technical authority and subject matter expert for all cover glass ink material and printing processes, including screen, inkjet, and specialty techniques.
- Define, develop, and implement robust printing process strategies to meet product performance, reliability, and cost targets.
- Lead process capability analysis, statistical process control (SPC), and design of experiments (DOE) for process optimization and scaling.
- Evaluate and select equipment, tooling, and materials (inks, masks, substrates) in collaboration with R&D, New Production Introduction (NPI), plant engineering, procurement, and suppliers.
- Oversee qualification and validation of new printing processes, equipment, and production lines; set acceptance criteria and review results.
- Drive troubleshooting and root cause analysis for complex process challenges—such as print defects, registration/alignment issues, ink adhesion, and contamination—deploying appropriate corrective and preventive actions.
- Support problem solving and process improvement using structured problem-solving methods such as MEE, KT, Designed of Experiment, or DMAIC.
- Review final product specifications and collaborate with Product Engineering, R&D, quality, and commercial teams to ensure manufacturability and compliance with product requirements and industry standards.
- Lead or support scale-up and new process technology transfer to manufacturing plants.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation (e.g., SOPs, FMEAs, control plans, process flow diagrams, parameter sheets) and ensure process knowledge is captured and disseminated.
- Mentor and technically lead process engineers and technicians; deliver training on best practices, advanced methods, and new technologies.
- Lead and support cost reduction, productivity, and cycle time improvement initiatives across the printing process area, leveraging data-driven approaches.
- Identify and evaluate new technologies and methods for printing to enhance product capability, differentiate offerings, and achieve competitive advantages.
- Engage stakeholders to determine product and process requirements for new product introduction (NPI) and support technology roadmap development.
- Ensure process compliance with all relevant safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
Education & Experience
- BS/MS/PhD majoring in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanochemical, Mechanical Engineering material, Physics, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in ink material, ink mixing, printing technologies for glass or similar substrates (screen printing, inkjet printing etc.), including materials, equipment, and process automation.
- Experience with automotive parts NPI and manufacturing is a strong advantage (e.g., APQP, PPAP, IATF 16949, or automotive safety testing).
- International exposure through living, studying, working abroad, or extended travel outside of home country is highly valued.
- Prior experience in foreign multinational corporations is a plus.
Required Skills
- Solid knowledge on Chemistry, ink material and process development.
- Well established experience in glass printing process and fundamentals, including screen, inkjet, and specialty techniques.
- Demonstrated success managing technical projects and leading cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, quality-focused environment.
- Proven experience in qualifying and introducing new materials, process, tools, and automation solutions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to effectively report technical results and present recommendations to stakeholders at multiple levels.
- Experience supporting customer technical interactions and/or driving process improvements for customer satisfaction preferred.
- Proficient in English and Mandarin. Good written and oral skills are essential.
Desired Skills
- Proficiency with process data analysis software, statistical analysis, and reporting tools.
- Skilled at planning, executing, and tracking multiple projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines and project goals.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and cross-function team cooperation skills.
- Experience in cleanroom/manufacturing operations and knowledge of safety/environmental regulations relating to printing processes.
- Experience in one or more of these areas is also a plus:
• Familiar with Screen making
• Automatic optical inspection or Measurement system (Abrasion, water contact angle, Spectrometer Solar exposure reliability tests etc.)
• Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) or spray coating processes, Surface cleaning (ultrasonic, brush, or plasma cleaning), Glass surface protection or lamination.
