Purpose of the Position

 

• Provide subject matter expertise(SME) in the plant for mechanical engineering analysis expertise to deliver robust, cost effective equipment, automation and machine systems.

• Take the lead to continuously to develop and automation equipment and process to solve difficult technical, engineering related problems of improving quality, cost, reliability, lower variability and maximizing the equipment efficiency.

• Transfer automation equipment and process technology from division to plant operation."

 

Day to Day Responsibilities

 

• Initially: Support setup of new production line

• Provide leadership in problem solving and technical expertise, to ensure timely trouble-shooting on automation equipment related (such as robot arms teaching, precision device calibration, sequence optimization etc.) problems and develop basic understanding of process requirements.

• Defines and documents equipment design specifications, develops equipment design concepts, design and follows construction of prototype and production equipment, conducts proof of concept tests, collects and evaluates data, and makes engineering recommendations.

• Interface with external machine builders, systems integrators, and suppliers to specify and successfully deliver fully integrated equipment’s systems to plant on-time, on-budget, and in satisfaction of process performance measures.

• Actively participates in system integration, check-out, installation, debug, production start-up, and training of plant personnel.

• Comply with all safety, quality, and IP requirements and continuously improvements.

• Report on project activities on a pre-determined basis. Ensure results meet the customer’s requirements and standards. • Report out the issues with professional data analysis and clear logical process. • Equipment downtime analysis and improvement to maximize equipment efficiency.

• Develop training materials and provide job related training for technicians and others • Identify, justify and run cost reduction and capacity improvement projects

• Establish and update system SOS/PM/SOP as needed and ensure all procedures are properly written and followed

• Ensure mechanical/electrical drawings, operation manuals and software packages are archived properly within the plant.

• Periodic weekend and shift coverage may become a requirement.

  • 3+ years with CAD/CAM capability especially for CNC application would be a plus.
  • AGV application experience will be a plus.
  • Familiar with IT tolerance, Pneumatic, Hydraulic and Mechanical components.
  • Familiar with manufacturing method- Milling, Turning, Grinding, Sheet metal, etc
  • Skill in electrical controls: such as Inverter, Servo motor, Sensor, etc. Knowledge of Mitsubishi PLC, PC controls, can apply Siemens/Mitsubishi/Allen-Brandley systems
  • Excellent Project management skill is a plus.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Chinese.
  • Experience in implementing DMAIC methodology and leading 6-sigma project.

 

Education and Experience

 

  • Bachelor Degree and above in Mechanical & Automation, and Aeronautic Engineering related.
  • 3~5 + years hands on automation system development, prototyping, debug and optimization for manufacturing or production.

 

Required Skills

 

  • Excellent 2D/3D CAD skills, Solid Works, AutoCAD is a must.
  • Understanding of equipment mechanical and control.
  • 3+ years in commercial robot installation, programming and simulation (Fanuc, ABB, Kuka, Yaskawa, Kawasaki etc.).
  • Experience on automation equipment design and integration such as material handling, CNC for finishing, conveyor, facility Automation, CCD integration.
  • Good commanding on automation equipment design and process equipment integration.
  • Familiar with commercial standard parts include mechanical and sensing components application and selection.
  • Skill in pneumatics controls applications: such as vacuum generator, cylinder, solenoid valve, regulator, filters, etc.
  • Fix problem (based on fundamental understanding of problems) with timing, cost saving, data-driven, and detail oriented.
  • Familiar with problem solving and statistic data analysis methodology.
  • Use rigorous processes and data to solve problems.
  • Uses a systematic approach to drive to root cause understanding of problems to assure validity of corrective actions.
  • Quality concept and tool.
  • Skill in software of Windows Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Capability to assess and prioritize workload.
  • Able to work independently and directly to scope out project scope, identify project requirements and deliverables, satisfy their objectives and timelines with a minimal amount of supervision.
  • Ability to work in a team based environment and participate on a matrix project team.
