Key responsibilities:

The individual will work in the Product & Process Development Center of AGS, Hefei, Anhui Province, China.

Primary responsibilities include: 
•    Evaluation of strength & reliabilities of materials, including glass and glass-like brittle materials.
•    Development of new methods to characterize materials strength & reliabilities.
•    Support development of new materials, products & processes with improved performance including strength, reliabilities, and manufacturing cost.
•    Support manufacturing and customer problems solving activities.

The position is expected to work closely with other development, research, engineering, and manufacturing teams as well as commercial teams globally (in China/Asia, US and Europe). Expect travel < 25%.

Key skills required:

•    Solid background in fundamentals of mechanics, strength of materials, structural mechanics, solid mechanics, fracture mechanics, reliability theory.
•    Hands-on in designing and performing experiments independently, data collection/interpretation/analysis.
•    Good communication skill, good at working with people of diverse background.
•    Experience with glass or brittle materials reliabilities is a strong plus.

 

Overall, the individual is expected to be a subject matter expert (SME)/technical lead in fundamentals of mechanics, materials reliability, and structural mechanics. 

 

A PhD degree in Mechanics, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering or related fields, with minimum of 2-year’ experience, is required; MS degree with >5-year’ experience and solid track record is also to be considered.
