- Purpose of the Position Job is with Manufacturing, Technology and Engineering (MTE) directorate based in Asia to support all Corning Incorporated manufacturing plants in Asia and Pacific Rim. Project assignment may involve travel percentage from 25~75% between Taiwan, Japan, China, S. Korea and USA. Building strong technical linkage with MTE core technology groups in USA / Division and visiting vendors responsible for building manufacturing process equipment/systems for Corning Incorporated. - Day to Day Responsibilities "• Provide mechanical engineering analysis expertise to project teams that are responsible to deliver robust, cost effective equipment, automation and machine systems to Corning’s manufacturing plants and processes. • Work with project team members to solve automated precision system and equipment related problems and develop basic understanding of process requirements. • Defines and documents equipment design specifications, develops equipment design concepts, design and follows construction of prototype and production equipment, conducts proof of concept tests, collects and evaluates data, and makes engineering recommendations. • Interface with external machine builders, systems integrators, and suppliers to specify and successfully deliver fully integrated equipments systems to the internal customers on-time, on-budget, and in satisfaction of process performance measures. • Actively participates in system integration, check-out, installation, debug, production start-up, and training of plant personnel. • Report on project activities on a pre-determined basis. Ensure results meet the customer’s requirements and standards. • Job requires periodically travel to Corning Incorporated and vendors locations in Asia and USA for process development for new products, new operation and process improvement projects. • Individual must be capable of executing project assignments with minimal supervision." - Project involved with Project focus will be the implementation of robust, cost effective automation and process machine systems in Corning’s manufacturing plants and will require collaboration with manufacturing, control system, process engineering, and other related organizations. - Reporting Structure Immediate supervisor: Tzu-Hen Hsu, Sr. Technical Manager, Automation and Precision engineering (APE), AMT, MTE-Asia, Based in Taiwan. - Direct reports None - Regular shift Yes - Education and Experience " 5~8+ Major in engineering department with BS or above degree - Mechanical, Aeronautic related  3+ years in precision equipment design and engineering  3+ international project experience involving new product development and new precision equipment development, prototyping, debug and optimization.  Experience in manufacturing or production.  3+ Project leading experience" - Required Skills " Good commanding on automated precision equipment design and process equipment integration  Detail oriented and able to perform with limited supervision  Effective, high quality oral and written communication skills with English  Proactive, independent, flexible, quick learner  Excellent computer skills (working knowledge and use of Microsoft Office)  Customer oriented; meets customer needs with quality results  Ability to build effective working relationships with others  Ability to manage multiple priorities tasks  Ability to contribute to the development of others  Responsible for the accuracy of work performed; takes a proactive approach to ensure quality of work." -Job Selling Points / Career Development Opportunities " An excellent opportunity for to work across all Corning businesses and be respected as technical experts.
