Purpose of the Position

 

This Strategic Sourcing Manager position is a critical procurement position to enhance the resource need and effort to better support all the MRO sourcing activity for Corning’s non-display business in Asia countries. This is a very dynamic and challenging arena with opportunities to significantly impact Corning through identifying and executing cost reduction / avoidance opportunities, maximizing total value and minimizing risk. This position is also critical to support Corning’s rapid business growth in China from existing and new businesses. The breadth of this position also provides opportunities to develop and enhance a wide spectrum of procurement skills.

 

Day to Day Responsibilities

 

Lead assigned portion of MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Operation) Category in APAC region.

 

For clarity, the MRO scope shall cover:

 

• Engineered spare parts which include equipment parts purchased from OEM suppliers, CI managed parts and machine shop parts.

• MRO sub-categories include Electrical, Electronics, Filtration, Fluid Power & Pneumatics, Hardware & Fasteners, General Industrial Supplies, Lab Supplies & Chemicals, Office Supplies, Pipes, Valves, & Fittings, Power Transmissions and Safety Supplies.

• MRO services

• Yearly audit of key suppliers.

 

Specific role will focus on below responsibility:

 

• Spend tracking and analysis to identify cost reduction opportunities from APAC perspective such as: opportunities to consolidate and aggregate spend.

• Lead the development of Asia categorizing strategies for the identified spend and ensure alignment between the technical and procurement activities through strong relationships and excellent communications.

• Work with each Asia business operation team to develop and define the MRO strategy and opportunity for each site.

• Identify cost reduction and cost avoidance opportunities and lead the projects / initiatives execution to deliver cost savings, including Net Price Change, Avoidance and Value Add contributions for SMSC.

• Lead negotiation of Asia contracts (such as MSAs, SOWs, and NDAs). Minimize total cost of ownership (TCO) and maximize total value (quality, price, schedule, intellectual property, service, technology, etc.).

• Coordinate with the Legal Department and use standard template to develop legally defensible, accurate contracts that reflect negotiated product and service agreements and minimize risk to Corning.

• Supplier Relationship Management (SRM): Develop and execute supplier management programs for critical suppliers. Integrate technical and commercial feedback, set goals for improvement and track progress. Perform supplier due diligence.

• Participate in Asia Strategic Sourcing Staff meeting: deliver results on MBO’s, Shared Objectives, Global Objectives and Contribution Metrics (cost savings). 

 

Education and Experience

 

Bachelor degree or above 6-8 years of MRO management experience Experience in manufacturing or operations is a plus

• Leadership – ability to lead large scale (> $10M) project planning, RFP process, negotiations, project activities, cost reduction initiatives, etc.
