The global Information Technology (IT) Function is leading efforts to align IT and Business Strategy, leverage IT investments, and optimize end to end business processes and associated information integration technologies.  Through these efforts, IT helps to improve the competitive position of Corning's businesses through IT enabled processes.  IT also delivers Information Technology applications, infrastructure, and project services in a cost efficient manner to Corning worldwide.

Role Purpose

The Business Engagement IT Support Technician provides technical assistance for service requests and incidents related to computer systems, software, hardware, and infrastructure, both on-site and remotely, as required by manufacturing facilities and users. This role includes rotating 24/7 on-call coverage.

 

Key skills include proficiency in Microsoft-based applications (Windows 10/11, Office 365) and Mac devices. Utilizing training, experience, and sound judgment, the technician will identify, diagnose, resolve, or escalate tickets in line with documented processes.

Key Responsibilities

•    Perform Active Directory Administration duties.
•    Provide limited support for corporate mobile devices. 
•    Work with cloud applications (Microsoft and 3rdparty) 
•    Troubleshooting Cisco VPN connectivity.
•    Provide remediating and minimizing anti-virus threats. 
•    Provide remote connection & utilization.
•    Perform imaging and deployment of MS workstations.
•    Perform asset lifecycle management skills. 
•    Support various browsers to include (Edge, Chrome, etc.).
•    Provide Installation & configuration of various software packages. 
•    Provide Installation & configuration of Security Software and patching.
•    Troubleshoot and install printer installations/ ink replacements. 
•    Provide divisional support for Mac OS and hardware (rarely).
•    Provide End user equipment moves (disconnect/reconnect).
•    Performs testing, monitoring, analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of performance, technology, and process related problems. 
•    Work across the media team, corporate events, and IT for meeting support and problem resolution.
•    Troubleshoots issues and engaging/assigning to the correct Team/Assignment Group
•    Escort IT Vendors for other IT Teams (where permitted)  
•    Documentation (records) management, on-boarding (Training) of new hires, and provide conference room support.
•    Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to change priorities at a moment’s notice. 
•    Ensure discreet handling of all business and maintains the highest level of confidentiality. Provide remote and onsite technical assistance, including smart hands tasks.

Experiences/Education - Required

  • Associate’s degree required.
  • Prior computer/server/networking hardware experience beyond imaging and deployment.
  • Proficient in time management and task prioritization.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective organization and planning skills, with ability to handle changing priorities.
  • Must be a self-starter, able to work in team environment and motivate others.

Experiences/Education - Desired

  • Prior experience with computer hardware & software installation, troubleshooting and support.
  • Basic 'smart hands' experience and network configuration knowledge.
  • Prior experience imaging and working with/deployment of computers and workstations.
  • Ability to demonstrate a basic knowledge management.

The range for this position is $48,691.00 - $66,951.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
