Role Purpose
The Manufacturing Engineering Technician (MET) supports the Hemlock Wafer Plant Manufacturing Finishing Department by improving equipment reliability, production uptime, and operational performance in a safe manufacturing environment. Working closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Development teams, this role troubleshoots and repairs mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment, performs root cause analysis, and implements solutions that improve equipment performance and process efficiency.
The MET serves as a hands-on technical resource, driving preventive and corrective maintenance activities, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and helping develop sustainable solutions that maximize asset uptime. This position also assists in training and coaching employees on equipment maintenance and troubleshooting while fostering a strong culture of safety, teamwork, and operational excellence
Key Responsibilities
- Support day to day equipment and process issues, identify and implement solutions to enhance the uptime of production and facilities equipment.
- Provide technical support for the evolution from reactive to proactive maintenance, which will lead to productivity improvement and a reduced maintenance cost/case
- Assist in diagnostics, repairs and rebuilds of machines; partner with engineering or others on non-routine repairs and defect handling solutions.
- Lead execution of work specified during planned maintenance (preventative, corrective, predictive, improvement) window including coordination of required parts, personnel, and communication of start-up activities.
- Utilize root cause analysis though process to ensure sustainability of corrective actions and/or improvements to drive asset uptime.
- Utilize the continuous improvement mindset and tools to actively participate in identifying and correcting opportunities.
- Supports plant production needs and priorities to achieve plant goals.
- Facilitate, attend and participate in team meetings and programs.
Hours of Work
- Ability to work 12-hour (2-3-2 rotating) shift schedule.
- Occasional off-shift, weekend, and overtime work may be required to support manufacturing operations.
Required Education
- Minimum of a 2-year degree in a technical discipline; engineering preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in Engineering/Manufacturing environment performing the maintenance, repair and upkeep of industrial machines and/or equipment.
Required Skills & Experience
- 0-3 years’ experience in engineering or manufacturing environment
- Demonstrated effectiveness at technical problem-solving and decision-making
- Experience in developing and delivering technical projects or process improvements into manufacturing
- Strong work ethic and desire to exceed expectations
- Ability to work in a team-based environment
- Communication skills, both written and oral
- Ability to use data to drive to solutions
- Strong drive to succeed and implement solutions
- Technically curious, self-motivated and be able to work with minimal supervision
Desired Skills & Experience
- Demonstrated results developing and delivering step change innovations to manufacturing
- Experience with measurement, characterization, or ceramics processing technologies
- Skills and experience with statistical process control
- Experience with application of 6-Sigma methods, KT, and MEE

The range for this position is $59,029.00 - $81,165.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
