Job Title: Measurements Engineer

 

 

Purpose of the Position: This position requires strong technical curiosity across many technologies, a desire for technical leadership, and the ability to learn and desire to work with others for the progress of the business. As part of a global team, this position provides measurement solutions to Corning’s business to deliver best in class products to our customers.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with experienced professionals across a variety of functional groups (manufacturing, development, engineering, etc.) to define, develop and implement measurement systems.
  • Transfer measurement technology from early-stage development to a system ready for installation in a manufacturing environment.
  • Develop and apply measurement uncertainty/measurement system analysis techniques to ensure proper measurement system application and capability.
  • Leverage external suppliers with key technologies or systems integration expertise to develop, procure, build, and install measurement systems in Corning’s production facilities.
  • Design experiments and analyze data to identify and implement measurement integrity and efficiency improvements to measurement systems or production processes. 
  • Develop and manage documentation in support of measurement system deployments including machine specifications, operating procedures, and drawing packages.
  • Train plant engineering, maintenance and operations associates on use and maintenance of measurement systems.
  • Visibly support the establishment and maintenance of a safe work environment

 

Work Hours

  • Standard Hours (Monday – Friday, 8am-5pm)   
  • Flexible hours may be required to support weekends/evenings operations requirements

 

Required Education, Skills & Experience

  • BS in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Physics
  • 2+ years of work experience in measurement science, measurement systems, or related area.  MS or PhD would be considered as a substitute for years of experience.

Desired Skills

  • Working knowledge of the integration of measurement systems into a global information technology architecture.
  • Sound understanding of manufacturing principals and experience in a global manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with computer-based measurement or automation equipment, design, setup, and support.
  • Experience with Measurement Uncertainty Analysis (preferred), Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility (GR&R), and/or Measurement System Analysis (MSA).
  • Experience with the manufacture of fiber optic components, including manufacturing and measurement processes 
  • Demonstrated project management experience.
  • Experience using CAD software for generation of mechanical assemblies and drawings, optical and electrical schematics, and general design layouts.
  • Scientific curiosity and an inventive spirit.
  • Demonstrated use of advanced software for modeling and/or statistical analysis

The range for this position is  $76,346.00   -  $104,977.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
