Job Title: Mechanical Facilities Engineer

 

Purpose of the Position: This role is essential to ensuring the reliability and efficiency of the facility’s mechanical systems, directly supporting operations and overall production goals.  The Mechanical Facilities Engineer will be responsible for overseeing, maintaining, and improving mechanical systems within the facility, including HVAC, plumbing, recycling, and process equipment. This role will ensure the efficient operation, maintenance, and optimization of these systems, supporting manufacturing and ensuring regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering and experience in facility management. 

 

 

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related engineering field
  • 5 + years of experience in mechanical systems design, installation, or maintenance within an industrial or manufacturing facility.

 

 

Required Skills

  • In-depth knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) for system design and modifications.
  • Strong understanding of safety regulations and building codes related to mechanical systems.
  • Familiarity with regulatory standards applicable to mechanical design and systems, such as ASME, ANSI, and ISO.
  • Experience with facility maintenance management software (CMMS) for tracking maintenance activities.
  • Excellent critical thinking skills, with the ability to analyze complex issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and stakeholders.
  • Efficient in Microsoft applications; Excel, Visio, Word, PowerPoint.
  • Excellent communication and people skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

 

 

Desired Skills

  • Knowledge of energy management systems and sustainability practices.
  • Understanding of wastewater treatment.
  • Familiarity with PLCs and other automation systems used in facility operations.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment, particularly with specialized equipment.
  • Semiconductor manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, piping, and process equipment.
  • Team up with Skilled Trades and supervision on system and maintenance optimization.
  • Conduct regular inspections and performance assessments to ensure systems operate efficiently and comply with safety regulations.
  • Manage external partners and vendors on system maintenance and repairs.
  • Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance plans for mechanical systems to reduce downtime and ensure longevity.
  • Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and internal teams to complete mechanical system upgrades and repairs.
  • Identify critical equipment, write SOP’s, and suggest spare part inventory.
  • Collaborate with other departments to support facility projects, expansions, and equipment installations.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical system issues to minimize interruptions in operations.
  • Monitor energy consumption and recommend cost-effective solutions for energy efficiency.
  • Ensure all mechanical systems comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including OSHA and EPA standards.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation of mechanical systems, including equipment manuals, maintenance logs, and compliance reports.
  • Participate in emergency response activities related to mechanical system failures.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in mechanical engineering, participating in professional development activities and knowledge-sharing sessions.

 

Work Hours

  • Standard Hours (Monday – Friday, 8am-5pm)
  • Managing a 24/7 plant structure, so occasional support when needed.

The range for this position is  $78,415.00   -  $107,821.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
