Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Purpose of the Position:
The Production Scheduler will play a crucial role in optimizing production schedules, coordinating resources, and ensuring timely completion of solar panel manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of manufacturing operations.
Key Tasks:
- Develop and maintain production schedules for solar panel manufacturing lines based on demand forecasts, production capacity, and resource availability.
- Collaborate closely with production managers, team leads, and procurement staff to coordinate manpower, equipment, and materials required for production activities.
- Analyze production capacity and constraints to optimize scheduling and maximize utilization of manufacturing resources, ensuring efficient operation of production lines.
- Monitor inventory levels of raw materials, components, and finished goods, and coordinate with procurement and warehouse teams to ensure adequate supply to support production schedules.
- Track production progress, identify deviations from the schedule, and take proactive measures to address delays or bottlenecks to maintain on-time delivery.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency gains in production scheduling, layout optimization, and workflow management to enhance productivity.
- Effectively communicate production schedules, priorities, and changes to production teams, supervisors, and relevant stakeholders to ensure alignment and clarity.
- Maintain accurate production records, reports, and documentation related to production schedules, resource allocation, and performance metrics.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, lean manufacturing projects, and process optimization efforts to enhance production scheduling effectiveness and efficiency.
Work Hours:
- Standard Hours (Monday – Friday, 8am-5pm)
- Managing a 24/7 plant structure, so occasional support when needed.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in operations management, industrial engineering, or a related field.
- 2+ years of working experience in production management
- Proven experience in production scheduling, preferably in a manufacturing environment, with a strong understanding of production planning principles and methodologies.
- Proficiency in production scheduling software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) for generating and managing production schedules.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate production schedules clearly and concisely.
Desired Skills:
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of solar manufacturing processes and familiarity with related equipment and technologies is a plus.
Soft Skills:
- Able to communicate equally well with various levels of the organization (engineers, production associates, and managers).
- Self-motivated.
- Good presentation skills.
- Able to handle multiple priorities.

The range for this position is $60,410.00 - $83,065.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
