Role Purpose

Corning is seeking a Pulling Process Engineer to drive technical excellence within mono-silicon ingot pulling operations at our Hemlock manufacturing facility. This role is responsible for optimizing manufacturing processes, improving yield and throughput, supporting new product introductions, and leading continuous improvement initiatives that enhance quality, process stability, and cost competitiveness while offering the opportunity to become a technical leader within Corning's growing solar manufacturing business and develop expertise in silicon crystal growth, process optimization, and advanced materials manufacturing.

The successful candidate will combine strong engineering fundamentals with hands-on manufacturing experience to solve complex process and equipment challenges, execute data-driven improvements, and partner closely with operations, maintenance, and technical teams to advance manufacturing performance and capability.

Success in this role will be measured by improvements in process capability, yield, throughput, product quality, and manufacturing cost.

Key Responsibilities

Support plant safety initiatives and maintain a safe working environment.
Troubleshoot and optimize pulling processes and equipment to improve yield, throughput, quality, and reliability.
Lead and support process, equipment, and continuous improvement projects.
Design, execute, and analyze experiments to solve technical challenges and improve manufacturing performance.
Leverage PI Vision and manufacturing data systems to monitor processes, identify trends, and drive data-based improvements.
Support new product development and introductions, including equipment startup, process qualification, documentation, and training.
Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to resolve issues and achieve production objectives.
Develop subject matter expertise in assigned manufacturing processes, materials, and equipment technologies while serving as a technical resource for troubleshooting process and equipment issues.

Work Hours

Standard Hours (Monday – Friday, 8am-5pm)
Provide occasional off-hours support as required for a 24/7 manufacturing operation.
Participate in an on-call support rotation schedule.

Required Education & Experience

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering required.
- Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Ceramic Engineering, or related disciplines preferred.
3+ years of process, manufacturing, or product engineering experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably within semiconductor, solar, materials, chemical, or other high-volume process industries.
Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals and their application in manufacturing environments.
Experience using data-driven problem solving and root cause analysis methodologies to improve manufacturing performance.
Ability to analyze complex manufacturing data and identify process improvement opportunities.
Experience managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced production environment.
Understanding of process control methodologies and disciplined manufacturing systems.
Demonstrated hands-on experience troubleshooting mechanical equipment and manufacturing processes.
Working knowledge of Process Control and Discipline, including Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) adherence and deviation management.
Proven track record contributing to or leading process or equipment implementation projects in a manufacturing setting.

Desired Skills

Experience with MS Excel, MS Access, or SPC Excel for process data analysis.
Six Sigma Green Belt or DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) project experience.
Lean manufacturing or error-proofing training/experience.
Production or technical supervisory experience.
Familiarity with PI Vision or similar manufacturing data monitoring platforms.
Experience supporting crystal growth, semiconductor, solar, materials, or chemical manufacturing processes.
Experience with statistical analysis tools, DOE, SPC, or process capability studies.
Experience leading continuous improvement projects resulting in measurable yield, throughput, quality, or cost improvements.

The range for this position is $84,932.00 - $116,782.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
