Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Role Purpose
Acts as an administrative resource and may provide project coordination within the function they support.
Key Responsibilities
• Provides administrative and clerical duties for individual(s) in an organization.
• Uses automated office equipment such as a computer to compose and type routine letters, reports and other materials. Maintains alphabetical, numerical or subject filing systems.
• Screens calls and takes messages. May prepare reports, graphs, and presentations using spreadsheet and graphic software. Acts as an information source on organization policies and procedures.
• Makes appointments and travel arrangements. Assists in establishing office policies and procedures, and coordinates special projects and department activities. Solid knowledge of the job.
• Substantial acquaintance with and understanding of general aspects of the job with a basic understanding of the technical phases of the job.
• Implements standard procedures and proposes modifications to improve workflow. Extrapolates from standard procedures as needed. Obtains supervisory input to resolve new types of problems.
• Independently solves most problems on basis of examining pertinent facts. General supervision.
• Gathers information independently using established and well-defined procedures.
• Detailed instructions given for new lines of work or special assignments.
• Trains new personnel as to established procedures.
• Maintains and ensures confidentiality of materials. Takes initiative to identify and propose remedies to problems to increase efficacy of work flow.
• Uses discretion to direct work flow in accordance with general supervisory guidance.
• Errors can be detected and corrected with relatively moderate effect on the organization.
• Contributions influence tasks and small project outcomes.
• Contacts are typically with individuals within own organizations.
• Frequently contacts sources outside own organization to obtain or provide information requiring some explanation or interpretation.
• Solid line to Plant Manager.
Experiences/Education - Required
- High School Diploma/GED, or equivalent experience
- Beginning job content knowledge
- Microsoft Office Suite experience
Experiences/Education - Desired
- Associates or Bachelors Degree
- Successful track record of performance in previous work experiences
- 1-3 years work experience

The range for this position is $45,538.00 - $62,615.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
