The global Information Technology (IT) Function is leading efforts to align IT and Business Strategy, leverage IT investments, and optimize end to end business processes and associated information integration technologies.  Through these efforts, IT helps to improve the competitive position of Corning's businesses through IT enabled processes.  IT also delivers Information Technology applications, infrastructure, and project services in a cost efficient manner to Corning worldwide.

 

Role Purpose

 

The Applications Developer & Integration Specialist supports manufacturing operations through application development, reporting, analytics, and systems integration. This role will serve as the primary U.S.-based support resource for a business-critical application developed and managed by a team in Europe. The successful candidate will learn the application, provide troubleshooting and support when issues arise, and contribute to ongoing development and enhancement activities. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop expertise in manufacturing systems while gaining exposure to application support, software development, reporting, and cross-functional collaboration. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

 

  • Collaborate with business partners to gather requirements while aligning solutions with global standards and industry best practices. 
  • Support manufacturing operations through reporting, analytics, and application support. 
  • Learn and become the subject matter expert for a critical manufacturing application developed and supported by a European team. 
  • Serve as the front-line U.S. support resource for application troubleshooting and break/fix activities. 
  • Design and create specifications for developers to acquire process data. 
  • Develop reporting and data analytics solutions to address technical and business challenges. 
  • Support system integrations and ensure application code, business logic, and connected systems function effectively together. 
  • Create and maintain technical documentation for software projects and processes. 
  • Provide user training and ongoing support for existing software solutions. 
  • Work closely with IT, Manufacturing, Engineering, and plant leadership on development and operational initiatives. 
  • Collaborate with global teams, including application owners and support partners in Europe. 

 

Required Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Business Informatics, Information Systems, or related fields. 
  • 3+ years of software development, application support, or systems integration experience. 
  • Experience troubleshooting and supporting business-critical applications. 
  • Good knowledge of web development tools and technologies. 
  • Good knowledge of SQL databases such as Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server. 
  • Understanding of application architecture, business logic, and system integrations. 
  • Familiarity with ITIL and Agile methodologies. 
  • Experience with version control systems such as Git. 
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English. 
  • Self-motivated, organized, and able to work effectively in a team environment. 

 

Preferred Qualifications 

 

  • Experience with Microsoft .NET applications and customer-facing solutions. 
  • Experience with analytics and reporting platforms such as Power BI, Databricks, Elastic Stack, or OSI PI. 
  • Experience with application development, reporting, database querying, and systems integration. 
  • Experience supporting manufacturing systems and operations. 
  • Experience in continuous or length-based manufacturing environments such as cable, wire, adhesive tape, or similar industries. 
  • Experience collaborating with global teams across multiple regions. 
  • Process-oriented mindset with a strong customer focus.

The range for this position is $65,070.00 - $89,471.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
