Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Position Purpose:
Looking for an Automation Controls Electrical Supervisor with a proven ability to lead electrical hardware engineers and technicians in designing, building, and deploying innovative controls solutions for machine / automation projects. The Automation Controls Electrical Supervisor will direct a group of controls resources to produce complete electrical design packages based on project specifications and standardized design practices within the Optical Connectivity Solutions Technology Automation Development Group.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, system design, or controls technology
- Minimum of 10 years of hardware design
- At least 5 years of management of hardware controls design with emphasis on driving teams to meeting schedule and budget
- A working knowledge of:
- AutoCAD Electrical (minimum 2019)
- Relevant electrical / safety standards (examples):
- National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 79, National Electrical Code (NEC), UL508A
- USA, European Union and Group Safety Standards such as 2006/42/EC Machinery Directive, EN IEC60204-1, EN ISO 12100, EN62061, ISO 13849-1, ISO 13850, etc.

Personal Protective Equipment Requirements:
- Due to arc flash and shock hazards, proper arc flash Personal Protective Equipment must be always worn when working on live panels
- Employees must always comply with the specific Personal Protective Equipment requirements identified on the ARC Flash and Shock Hazard Warning Labels. These will be posted at machine electrical panels, switchgear locations, breaker panels, bus ducts, and equipment related power drops
Responsibilities:
- Supervise, train, and guide all electrical controls engineering designers and technicians that are part of the Optical Connectivity Solutions team
- Collaborates with Early-Stage Development Engineering team in support of concepts, testbeds, and owns projects through manufacturing deployment
- Creates controls strategy for process automation technology organization
- Work with mechanical designers during mechanical design process to conceptualize a control system that will enable the machine to perform its intended function safely and reliably
- Reviews and evaluates new Electrical Controls market innovations that may be relevant for new equipment designs that may provide a cost effective, and up-to-date electrical solution

The range for this position is $137,812.00 - $189,492.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
