Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Role Purpose

 

We are seeking a dynamic Engineering Manager to lead a high-performing team of Process and Controls Engineers and Technicians. This role is pivotal in driving continuous improvement in safety, cost, and operational capability through innovative technology and engineering excellence. You will spearhead strategic initiatives that enhance both existing and new manufacturing processes to achieve optimal performance.

 

🧭 Key Responsibilities

 

  • Lead and mentor engineering and maintenance teams, promoting a culture of growth and accountability.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally to optimize yield, cost, and equipment reliability.

  • Provide strategic support and rapid response to critical manufacturing issues affecting uptime and cost.

  • Drive performance evaluations, development plans, and recognition programs.

  • Oversee engineering projects, objectives, and critical measurements linked to plant success.

  • Champion metrology methodologies and calibration practices.

  • Govern safe work practices and proactively maintain a safety-first environment.

  • Manage cost reduction initiatives, particularly for the Ribbon production line.

  • Identify and communicate opportunities in performance, resources, and skills development.

 

💼 Required Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing setting

  • Proven leadership in people management

  • Familiarity with modern manufacturing systems and control processes

  • Knowledge of PLC programming and automation integration

  • Demonstrated success in project delivery and organizational leadership

  • Strong track record of performance improvement and technical excellence

The range for this position is $125,734.00 - $172,884.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
