Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Scope of Position
Oversees the planning, implementation, and optimization of end-to-end supply chain activities for automation components and machinery. Key focus areas include procurement, warehouse management, supplier relations, transportation, and distribution to internal business partners.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Logistics & Execution: Coordinate daily activities across purchasing, warehouse storage, transportation, and trade compliance.
- Project Liaison: Partner with project teams to manage bill of materials, quotes, and vendor selection; negotiate and communicate delivery dates to ensure timeline adherence.
- Inventory Management: Maintain the integrity of the parts master file to ensure seamless tracking of purchases and optimize stockroom organization for immediate retrieval.
- Financial Coordination: Collaborate with procurement and accounting to resolve discrepancies and ensure financial accuracy across all purchasing activities.
- Continuous Improvement: Work with subject matter experts to stay current on logistics requirements and proactively maintain a safe, efficient work environment.
- Problem Solving: Independently resolve operational bottlenecks and adjust plans quickly when disruptions occur.
Travel & Hours
- Travel: 25% average (domestic only) between locations.
- Hours: 40+ hours/week.
Education & Experience
- Education: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
- Experience: Minimum 1 year in a procurement, warehouse, or shipping role.
Required Skills
- Technical Aptitude: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or other spreadsheet software for data entry and status reporting; experience using hand and electrical tools.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written skills with the ability to present ideas clearly within a global, cross-functional work environment.
- Project Support: Proven ability to work effectively on multiple technical project teams simultaneously.
- Operational Focus: Results-oriented approach to identifying bottlenecks and implementing corrective actions.
Desired Skills & Physical Requirements
- Equipment/Compliance: Experience operating forklifts/pallet jacks; familiarity with (or willingness to learn) HazMat and international shipping regulations.
- Physical: Ability to stand for long periods and regularly lift 30–50 lbs.

The range for this position is $42,441.00 - $58,357.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
