Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Scope of Position:
The individual will work with Engineering in the development of measurement system software and technology related to the testing of optical fiber cable and connector assemblies for the telecommunications industry.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
- Work with cross functional teams in the specification, development, and implementation of software and hardware systems used for measurement system control and data collection within manufacturing.
- Generate technical documentation and drawings.
- Working with cross functional teams on process improvements.
- Identify potential issues within existing systems.
- Project management responsibilities including project scoping, budgeting, timeline generation, and presentations.
Required Skills:
- Working knowledge of at least one programming language
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office
- Technical Curiosity
Desired Skills:
- Ability to program using .Net, LabView, or C#
- Knowledge of optical fibers
- Knowledge of measurements associated with optical fibers
- Knowledge of basic statistics

Education and Experience minimum:
- Completed Sophomore year of an Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, or Computer Science program with a 3.00 or above GPA.
Hours of work/work schedule/flextime:
- 40 hrs., typical 8am-5pm with potential some flex time for experimentation
