Scope of Position:

Responsible for execution of Global Supply Management (GSM) procurement strategies to manage sourcing of quality products, equipment and services in alignment with business objectives and strategies. Responsible for assured supply of materials, minimizing inventories, optimum material utilization, and supplier performance while continuously identifying and implementing opportunities to lower total cost of ownership and mitigate risk (e.g. on-time, best price, high quality). Day to Day


  • Champions and ensures compliance with the Global Buying Policy (GBP) along with utilization of standard Global Supply Management (GSM) source-to-pay (S2P) processes and tools
  • Promotes and proliferates appropriate utilization of buying channels and procurement tools (p-cards; e-catalogs, requisitions, and purchase orders, e-auctions, etc.)
  • Participates as an active member of cross-functional teams (GSM or business) focused on process improvements, cost reduction, and supply chain optimization projects (as assigned)
  • Leads and/or supports negotiations with suppliers (including contract administration)
  • Prepares and solicits competitive bids/quotations/proposals, scope of work (SOW), etc. with pertinent specifications, terms, and conditions
  • Manage suppliers, consultants, etc. and interfaces with appropriate departments to ensure delivery of quality material components, equipment, and services while ensuring assurance of supply and best cost position scenarios
  • Responsible for Vendor Add/Change Maintenance process and requirements for site
  • Creates and maintains contractual documents in Ariba system (Supply Agreements/SOWs, Pricing Agreements, Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDA), Certificates of Insurance (COI), etc.)
  • Reviews and processes purchase requisitions into purchase orders (POs) in an SAP ERP system (including obtaining and examining quotations, SoWs, bids, etc.); advises Buy Smart Requisitioners (BSRs) on the same
  • Works closely with requisitioners, suppliers, receiving, and Corning Shared Services (CSS) to resolve invoice issues and identify root cause and corrective action(s)
  • Assures Contributions Metrics cost reduction tracking entries are completed/updated and linked with the site/business cost reduction portfolio
  • Owns/Assists with Supplier Relationship Management Process (including supplier audits)
  • Supports inventory Management (where applicable): Organizes, controls and minimizes materials on hand, slow moving and obsolete materials, physical inventory counts, etc.
  • Supports plant leadership and/or GSM requests for data analysis, metrics reporting, purchasing information, etc.
  • Protects Intellectual Property (IP) and proprietary information
  • Ensure compliance with internal and external auditing requirements related to Procurement (as applicable)
  • Participates in supplier diversity outreach efforts

Travel Requirements:

<5% domestic travel

Work Schedule:

  • 40hrs/week – Monday – Friday (core hours)


Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required

Years and Area of Experience:

  • 2+ year’s experience in a procurement/Supply Chain roles (knowledge of procurement practices, processes, systems and tools)

  • Institute for Supply Management (ISM) or APICs certifications CPSM, C.P.M., A.P.P., CPIM, CSCP, etc.
  • Green Belt Certification and/or Project management experience
