Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Role Purpose
We are seeking a highly motivated Process Engineer to apply engineering principles and practices in technical assignments and projects. The successful candidate will independently make decisions grounded in sound engineering and scientific methods and actively collaborate across departments to tackle process and product challenges. This role aims to enhance manufacturing capabilities through innovative ideas and methods, driving significant contributions to departmental objectives.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
- Provide problem-solving support to daily production operations.
- Analyze process data to identify and implement process improvement and cost reduction projects using the scientific method.
- Develop cost justifications and capital requests for equipment purchases needed for project goals.
- Collaborate with operators, team leaders, and peers to integrate process, equipment, or safety improvements into manufacturing.
- Lead all aspects of onboarding new equipment, including financial justification, design, specification, purchasing, and tracking related expenses. Ensure comprehensive project documentation, including operator training guides and maintenance protocols.
- Support the transition of new cabling technology, materials, and processes from development to production. Guarantee repeatability in the production environment and ensure completion of all necessary documentation (e.g., MI's, SOP's, PM's, and calibration).

Required Education:
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering or a related technical field.

- Robust process engineering knowledge and technical fundamentals.
- Collaborative mindset, adept at integrating solutions across teams.
- High commitment to results and adaptability to learn new technologies quickly.
Desired Skills:
- 1-3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of plastic extrusion technologies and cabling processes/equipment.
- Experience with PLC programming in manufacturing environments.

The range for this position is $83,750.00 - $115,156.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
