Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a talented and driven Process Engineer to join our team. As a Process Engineer, you will utilize your knowledge of engineering principles to execute technical assignments and projects, solve manufacturing challenges, and contribute to process and product improvements. You will play a critical role in enhancing manufacturing capabilities by implementing innovative ideas and methods, supporting production operations, and driving continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide day-to-day problem-solving support to production operations, ensuring smooth manufacturing processes.
- Assist in the transfer of new cabling technologies, materials, or processes from development to production, ensuring repeatability and reliability in a production environment.
- Analyze process data to understand capability, monitor trends, and drive manufacturing excellence.
- Collaborate with operators, team leaders, and peers to implement process, equipment, or safety improvements.
- Identify process improvement and cost reduction opportunities using scientific methods to test and validate hypotheses.
- Prepare cost justifications and capital requests for equipment purchases to achieve project goals.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering or a related technical field.
- Minimum of 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong technical fundamentals in process engineering and creative problem-solving skills.
- Ability to collaborate across organizational boundaries and deliver integrated solutions.
- Strong interpersonal skills, effective communication, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to mentor and develop talent, fostering team success and individual growth.
Desired Skills:
- Experience in mechanical design (components, tooling, guarding, etc.).
- Project management expertise, including cost estimation, planning, and execution.
- Familiarity with statistical tools such as Minitab.
- Proficiency in structured problem-solving methodologies like DMAIC or PDCA.
- Six Sigma Green Belt certification or equivalent experience preferred.
- Knowledge of plastic extrusion technologies, cabling processes, and UV curable technologies is a plus.
Soft Skills:
- Strong networking abilities across engineering and technology teams.
- Excellent verbal/written communication and presentation skills.
- Organizational and planning skills to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Open and engaging interpersonal approach, with the ability to give and receive coaching.
Work Schedule:
- Full-time, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM with occasional off-shift support as needed.
Travel Requirements:
- Less than 10%.

The range for this position is $83,750.00 - $115,156.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
