Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Role Purpose
Are you a results-driven engineer with a passion for innovation and problem-solving? Join our team and apply your expertise in engineering principles to tackle technical challenges, drive process improvements, and enhance manufacturing capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day problem-solving support to production operations.
- Analyze process data to identify improvement and cost-reduction opportunities, using the scientific method to develop, test, and prove hypotheses.
- Prepare cost justifications and capital requests for new equipment purchases.
- Collaborate with operators, team leaders, and peers to implement process, equipment, or safety improvements.
- Manage projects to introduce new equipment into production, including financial justification, design, purchasing, installation, documentation, and training.
- Support the transfer of new cabling technologies, materials, or processes from development to production, ensuring repeatability in a manufacturing environment.
- Develop and maintain essential documentation, including SOPs, PMs, calibration instructions, and maintenance manuals.

Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering or a related technical field.
Experience:
- 1–3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment (preferred).
Skills:
- Strong technical fundamentals in process engineering.
- Creative and innovative problem-solving abilities.
- Effective collaboration across organizational boundaries.
- Results-oriented with a high commitment to excellence.
- Quick learner of new technologies and processes.
- Knowledge of plastic extrusion technologies and cabling processes (desired).
- Experience with PLC programming in a manufacturing environment (desired).

The range for this position is $83,750.00 - $115,156.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
