Purpose of Position:

Innovate and design optical connectors, adapters and other fiber optic telecommunication products. As a minimum a Product Development Engineer should be able to: 

  • Generate mechanical design concepts using engineering principals
  • Model using 3D CAD software
  • Analyze designs virtually and with physical prototypes

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with development engineers to design product components in CAD
  • Perform computer based analysis (e.g. finite element analysis, dimensional tolerancing, data statistics)
  • Prototype concepts using a variety of tools (e.g. 3D Printing)
  • Perform physical experiments to evaluate concepts
  • Document designs and findings in written reports
  • Perform verbal presentation of work

 

Required Competencies (Education, Knowledge, Skills, Experience, Soft Skills)

  • B.S., M.S. Mechanical Engineering student (currently enrolled)
  • Use of 3D CAD software
  • Scientific curiosity and innovative mindset
  • Communicates effectively (verbal and written)
  • Organized with good planning and time management skills
  • Self-motivated, positive attitude, flexible, committed work ethic

The range for this position is $1,519-$3,074 biweekly.  Starting pay for the successful applicant is prescribed based on geographic location, nature of position, and year in school.
