Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Role Purpose:
As a Quality Engineer, you will collaborate with cross-functional team members to solve complex technical and engineering challenges. You will play a key role in supporting or leading continuous improvement initiatives, new product or process introductions, and cost reduction projects. Your expertise will contribute to process optimization, superior product quality, and compliance with safety, environmental, and intellectual property standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide day-to-day technical problem-solving support for production, development, and research operations.
- Train operators and trades personnel on new equipment and processes.
- Build detailed technical understanding for key process steps using rigorous processes and technical knowledge.
- Participate as a team member or lead focused projects to achieve business objectives.
- Troubleshoot material, process, and equipment issues, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
- Implement and document material, process, and/or equipment changes.
- Apply statistical tools and techniques, including Designed Experiments (DOE), for process problem-solving and improvement.
- Ensure quality and repeatability of processes and products.
- Support new product introductions through equipment installation, process certification, documentation, and training.
- Develop SME (Subject Matter Expert) knowledge in specific areas of material, process, or equipment.
- Execute cost reduction and improvement projects using DMAIC methodologies.
- Ensure operator and equipment safety and comply with safety and environmental regulations.
Required Experiences/Education:
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering or equivalent technical background.
- Yellow Belt training.
- Proven track record of delivering results in technical or engineering roles.
- Demonstrated knowledge in a technical field.
- Experience as a project team member.
Desired Experiences/Education:
- Summer internship experience or progressive experience within the engineering field.
- Green Belt certification.
- Experience in leading project teams.
- Shift supervisory experience.

The range for this position is $83,750.00 - $115,156.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
