Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry. This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

  • You will join a multidisciplinary team utilizing Corning’s technology to analyze data, develop and test hypotheses or implement innovative solutions to challenging problems.



  • 40 hours/week



  • Currently enrolled in Bachelor's, Master's or PhD program in areas meaningful to Corning (i.e. Physics, Materials Science, Glass Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computational Science or related field)


Required Skills:

  • Experience and deep understanding of applications within your field of study
  • Strong dedication and ability to conduct laboratory experiments in an industrial setting (experimental design, safety, data collection and analysis) and use data to solve problems
  • Strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary development team and independently, depending upon the phase of the project.
