Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

 

Role Purpose

 

The Supply Chain Solutions MES System Technician is responsible for supporting supply chain initiatives to improve Supply Chain systems.  This individual will work to standardize the supply chain processes – by supporting MES system deployments and continuous improvement efforts.  They support regional projects interacting with various support functions including operations, finance, and engineering.  Project scope typically includes delivering capacity through operational readiness, capability, cost reduction and continuous improvement. 

 

 Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Support Supply Chain system deployments as the business or supply chain workstream representative in the cable plants.
  • Understand and leverage the EBS methodologies to successfully support Supply Chain system projects.
  • Monitor system performance to identify continuous improvement opportunities within supply chain systems.
  • Support the development of end-to-end tools to improve ERP-to-MES Supply Chain functionality within OFC cable plants.
  • Develop Supply Chain solutions that continue to support global enterprise processes, data standards, and metrics while supporting the unique supply chain strategies within fiber and cable businesses.
  • Understand data communication pathways and purpose among the technical supply chain tools and programs – MES, FIS, FIOS, & SAP.
  • Collaborate with and build positive and productive relationships with OFC plant leaders, technical leaders, and supply chain end-users to create and implement new supply chain capabilities.
  • Utilize curriculum to develop plant level technicians to act as a first line of support when issues arise.
  • Represent business interests when communicating with IT.

Required Experience and Education:

 

  • Minimum 3 years of multi business/function experience in Project support in Supply Chain, Quality, Operations, or Engineering
  • Minimum 3 years of operating supply chain modules of an ERP environment
  • Valued partnerships with stakeholders, communicating effectively, influencing plant personnel, driving change, applying emotional intelligence, and employing analytics

 

Desired: 

 

  • B.S. degree is desired (in Engineering, IT, Business or Supply Chain field)
  • Project Management Certification
  • SAP ECC 6.0, SAP APO, or S/4HANA
  • Microsoft Project & Power BI experience
  • Understanding the cable and/or fiber manufacturing business

The range for this position is $57,542.00 - $79,120.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
