Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

The purpose of this position is:

  • To inspect parts on a coordinate measuring system, performing checks on the automated, or Multi spindle machines. As well as assist Machinist with the fabrication of metal parts.

This position includes significant duties such as:

  • Monitoring the operation/output of machines and checking BOM to determine required components
  • Adjusting, operating, and performing preventative maintenance as required
  • Maintaining required production • Inspecting parts to blueprint specifications using various precision measuring instruments and other various gages
  • Gathering, weighing and packaging parts
  • Making decisions to shut off machines that are out of tolerance
  • Monitor computer screens during the testing process
  • Contributing to the 5S departmental goals by maintaining the cleanliness of the production area

Working Conditions:

  • Good working conditions; frequently lifting up to 25 pounds; infrequently lifting up to 50 pounds; requires use of PPE in identified areas (safety glasses, etc.)

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED

Required Experience:

  • 3 – 12 months in a mid-volume manufacturing environment; ability to effectively communicate in English; functional math and problem-solving skills
