Role Purpose:
HR lead for Manufacturing Plant:
- Ensures plant has optimal staffing to execute plant strategy and achieve desired business results
- Ensures plant realizes required levels of employee productivity and performance excellence required to execute plant strategy and achieve desired business results;
- Ensures plant establishes and maintains a positive work environment.
- Ensures the successful implementation of HR business processes within the plant;
- Analyzes the internal and external environment including unions, government, and political bodies. Recommends action plans for taking strategic decisions on the Industrial Relations for the Plant in consensus with the Leadership.
- Ensures plant compliance with HR-related legal and regulatory guidelines.
- Establishes best practices in HR that can be scaled for future brownfield/greenfield manufacturing sites in alignment with Company policies/procedures/culture.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collaborates with Plant Manager and HR leadership to prioritize current and future talent requirements of the plant. Develops and executes staffing strategy to ensure effective plant start-up and achievement of business goals.
- Takes actions to address key talent gaps, ensuring plant has the right people in the right place at the right time.
- Partners with plant management to identify and implement targeted division, plant, and individual development plans that address targeted talent gaps in a timely manner
- Identify and implement a compelling employee value proposition that enables attracting and retaining talent.
- Supports plant management in effectively deploying performance management and rewards processes/practices to drive required levels of employee accountability for desired performance results and ensure retention of top performers.
- Functions as the voice of the plant customer to HR to ensure that the type and level of services provided fully support achievement of plant business objectives.
- Educates plant management in development and implementation of required programs and processes to drive a positive work environment through plant management and supervisors.
- Resolves employee relations issues in a fair and consistent manner that recognizes employee needs and protects the needs of the plant to operate in an effective and efficient manner.
- Works closely with EHS and CSR teams to ensure proactive measures for employee safety and strong community relations that support a positive work environment.
- Provide guidance to the plant administration, facilities, and security functions to ensure smooth operations.
- Establishes and maintains a presence on the plant floor to keep a read on the pulse of the organization.
- Implements appropriate risk management policies and procedures to ensure plant compliance with safety requirements and local, state, and national employment law.
Education/Experience Requirement:
- Master’s degree in human resources or Labor Relations or equivalent qualification/experience.
- At least 15 years of HR experience (generalist/specialist) or equivalent.
- Well conversant with Industrial Relations – should have handled labor and unions and good in liaising with government agencies.
- Successful track record of performance in plant HR leadership role
- HR experience with another multinational and Indian companies with manufacturing presence.
- Hands on experience of greenfield/brownfield manufacturing projects is a must.
- Experience or training in quality/safety management
- Work experience (assignment/project participation) in aligning plant leadership around organization direction, design, and governance/decision rights
- Work experience in designing and implementing effective organization structures and work processes that improve plant ability to achieve desired results— product start up, expansion, or mature business optimization.
- Knowledge of local/regional/national employment laws and policies.
- Proficient in verbal and written English language skills.
