As a leading developer, manufacturer, and global supplier of scientific laboratory products for 100 years, Corning’s Life Sciences segment collaborates with researchers seeking new approaches to increase efficiencies, reduce costs and compress timelines in the drug discovery process. Using unique expertise in the fields of materials science, surface science, optics, biochemistry and biology, the segment provides innovative solutions that improve productivity and enable breakthrough discoveries.

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement process strategies for the CLS Wujiang plant, ensuring efficiency and quality in all operations.
  • Regularly assess the current processes and make necessary adjustments or improvements.
  • Communicate with customers to understand their requirements better and ensure all processes meet these needs.
  • Lead quality improvement initiatives, including identifying areas for improvement, developing solutions, and implementing these changes.
  • Use data analysis and statistical methods to understand and improve processes.
  • Collaborate with other departments to align processes and ensure a consistent approach across the plant.
  • Monitor process performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and assess the effectiveness of implemented changes.
  • Provide technical support and training to employees to ensure they understand and can effectively utilize new and improved processes.
  • Maintain current knowledge of industry trends and advancements in process development and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Regular report generation and presentation of process performance and improvement initiatives to senior management.
  • Ensure compliance with local and national regulations related to plant operations.
  • Drive cost reduction initiatives across the plant by identifying opportunities for operational efficiency improvements,
  • Implementing cost-effective solutions and monitoring their impact on overall process cost. 
  • This includes reducing waste, improving labor utilization, and implementing advanced technologies or process improvements.
     

Education & Experience

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or a related field. 
  • A minimum of five years' experience in a process or operations management role, preferably in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Proven experience in analyzing processes, identifying areas for improvement, and devising and implementing effective solutions.
  • Strong technical skills, including proficiency in data analysis and statistical methods, and experience with process simulation software.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex processes to a variety of audiences, from frontline staff to senior management.
  • A commitment to keeping abreast of industry trends and advancements in process development and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Ability to generate regular reports and present process performance and improvement initiatives to senior management.

Desired                                    

  • Extensive knowledge of process optimization and continuous improvement methodologies, such as Lean or Six Sigma. Certification in either of these methodologies would be highly beneficial.
  • Experience in providing technical support and training to staff.
  • Experience in leading cost reduction initiatives and driving operational efficiency.
  • Fluency in both English and Chinese is highly desirable due to the location of the plant.
