As a leading developer, manufacturer, and global supplier of scientific laboratory products for 100 years, Corning’s Life Sciences segment collaborates with researchers seeking new approaches to increase efficiencies, reduce costs and compress timelines in the drug discovery process. Using unique expertise in the fields of materials science, surface science, optics, biochemistry and biology, the segment provides innovative solutions that improve productivity and enable breakthrough discoveries.

Day to Day Responsibilities:

Mold Design and Development:
•    Design molds using CAD software (such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or UG NX) based on product design requirements.
•    Develop mold development plans, optimize mold structures, and ensure product design feasibility and production efficiency.
Mold Processing and Manufacturing:
•    Supervise the mold processing process to ensure component machining precision meets design requirements.
•    Coordinate related processes for mold manufacturing, including material selection, machining techniques, and quality inspection.
Mold Trial and Debugging:
•    Arrange mold trials, analyze trial results, and optimize mold performance.
•    Resolve issues encountered during mold trials to ensure molds can stably produce high-quality products.
Mold Maintenance and Repair:
•    Regularly inspect mold conditions, develop maintenance plans, and ensure mold service life.
•    Address mold faults, promptly repair damaged molds, and minimize downtime.
Collaboration with Related Departments:
•    Communicate with design engineers, production teams, and quality management departments to ensure molds meet production needs and quality standards.
•    Provide technical support to production staff, guiding mold operation and usage.
Technical Documentation and Records:
•    Prepare mold design plans, trial reports, and maintenance records.
•    Track mold usage and archive related technical documentation.
Continuous Improvement and Optimization:
•    Research new materials and technologies to optimize mold design and enhance production efficiency.
•    Analyze issues within the production process, propose mold improvement suggestions, and reduce costs.

Education & Experience

Required
•    Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Mold Design, or related fields (preferred).
•    Proficient in operating CAD/CAM software (such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, UG NX, etc.).
•    Proficient in mold flow analysis and simulation, with hands-on experience utilizing advanced software tools (e.g., Moldflow, SolidWorks Plastics, or similar) to optimize mold designs and troubleshoot potential defects such as warping, sink marks, or flow imbalances.
•    More than 5 years of experience in mold design or manufacturing, familiar with processes such as injection molding, stamping, and die casting.
•    Experienced in mold development, debugging, and optimization, capable of independently completing product design and mold manufacturing tasks.
•    Familiar with mold material properties and heat treatment processes, able to perform material selection analysis.
•    Knowledgeable about processing equipment such as CNC machines, wire cutting machines, and milling machines.
•    Possesses the ability to solve mold failures and quality issues during production.
Desired                                    
•    Background in Polymer Materials Science or Biology. 
•    Extensive knowledge of process optimization and continuous improvement methodologies, such as Lean or Six Sigma. Certification in either of these methodologies would be highly beneficial.
•    Experience in providing technical support and training to staff.
•    Experience in leading cost reduction initiatives and driving operational efficiency.
•    Fluency in both English and Chinese is highly desirable due to the location of the plant.
