Corning’s Display Technologies segment manufactures glass substrates for active matrix liquid crystal displays (“LCDs”) that are used primarily in LCD televisions, notebook computers and flat panel desktop monitors.

 

Join Our Team as a CMM Operator
Now Hiring: 1st Shift (Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM)

 

Position Purpose:
Provide inspection support for quality, manufacturing, and engineering.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program and operate CMMs to perform dimensional measurements and inspections per engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Exceptional focus on accuracy and thoroughness in all inspection tasks.
  • Maintain and calibrate CMM equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • Analyze measurement data to determine part conformance and identify non-conformities.
  • Generate inspection reports, analyze measurement data, identify non-conformities, and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to address quality issues and suggest process improvements.
  • Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work environment.

 

Qualifications

Education:

High School Diploma or GED required.

 

Experience: 

  • 1-3 years in optical or mechanical inspection; Coordinate Measuring Machine experience preferred.
  • Proficient in handling precision components.
  • Strong understanding of dimensional measurement techniques, blueprint drawings, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
  • Proficiency with computer systems, including Windows and Office software.

 

Day-to-Day Tasks:

  • Inspect manufactured parts to ensure they meet quality standards.
  • Perform both optical and mechanical inspections with precision.
  • Clean and prepare optical components for processing or delivery.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and specifications to define inspection criteria.
  • Partner with manufacturing teams to optimize workflows and processes.
  • Prepare data packages for product shipments, ensuring documentation accuracy.
  • Identify, document, and report non-conformities, support Material Review Board activities.
  • Train team members on inspection techniques to maintain consistency.
  • Ensure adherence to ISO 9001 standards and promote best practices.
  • Evaluate measurement data, verify conformance, and prepare detailed reports.
  • Collaborate on continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality processes.

 

What We’re Looking For:

  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in optical or mechanical inspection (precision experience is a plus).
  • Confidence in handling delicate, high-precision components.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Familiarity with GD&T and standard drawing practices preferred.
  • Computer proficiency, especially with Windows and Office software.

 

Work Environment:

  • Occasionally handle chemicals like alcohol and acetone (safety measures provided).
  • Lift materials up to 35 lbs (team support for heavier loads).
  • Operate in a fast-paced, accuracy-focused environment.
  • Maintain a clean, safety-conscious workspace.

 

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • 1-3 years of experience in optical or mechanical inspection.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 standards.
  • Familiarity with precision components and blueprint interpretation.
  • GD&T knowledge is a bonus but not required.

The range for this position is  ​$21.00 hourly rate - $29.00 hourly rate. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
