The Specialty Materials segment manufactures products that provide more than 150 material formulations for glass, glass ceramics and fluoride crystals to meet demand for unique customer needs. Consequently, this segment operates in a wide variety of commercial and industrial markets that include display optics and components, semiconductor optics components, aerospace and defense, astronomy, ophthalmic products, telecommunications components and cover glass that is optimized for portable display devices.

 

 

The purpose of this position: Provide inspection support for quality, manufacturing, and engineering.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Program and set up CMMs to perform dimensional measurements and inspections according to engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Operate CMM equipment to collect measurement data and perform inspections on workpieces.
  • Perform routine maintenance and calibration of CMM equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • Analyze measurement data and inspection results to determine the conformance of parts and identify any non-conformities.
  • Generate inspection reports and documentation to record measurement results and communicate findings to relevant stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to address quality-related issues and suggest process improvements.
  • Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work area.

 

Education/Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • One to three years in optical mechanical inspection with Coordinate Measuring Machine experience desired.
  • Experience in handling precision components.
  • Basic blueprint reading and comprehension.
  • Computer fluency to include Windows 10 and newer.
  • Standard drawing practices, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) is desired.

 

Working Conditions:

 

  • Exposure to alcohol and acetone used for cleaning.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 35 lbs.

The range for this position is ​$21.00 hourly rate - $25.50 hourly rate.  Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
