Corning’s Display Technologies segment manufactures glass substrates for active matrix liquid crystal displays (“LCDs”) that are used primarily in LCD televisions, notebook computers and flat panel desktop monitors.

The purpose of this position: Provide inspection support for quality, manufacturing, and engineering.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Conduct inspections and measurements of manufactured parts

• Performs optical and mechanical inspection.

• Cleans optical components for processing/shipment.

• May provide coordinate measuring machine inspection.

• Provides supply manufacturing support to expedite work flow through departments

• Prepares data package for shipment of product.

• Trains others as needed.

• Supports Material Review Board activities by providing data and completing nonconformance paperwork.

• Complies with ISO 9002 procedures.

• Analyze measurement results and compare them against the specified requirements to assess the conformance of parts.

• Identify and document any non-conformities or deviations from the specified tolerances.

• Generate detailed inspection reports and documentation to communicate measurement findings and quality issues.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address quality-related concerns and implement corrective actions.

• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to inspection processes and quality control.

 

Education/Experience 

• High School Diploma or GED

• One to three years in optical mechanical inspection experience desired

• Experience in handling precision components

• Basic blueprint reading and comprehension

• Computer fluency to include Windows 95, Office 95 and basic DOS

• Standard drawing practices, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing desired

 

Working Conditions: 

• Exposure to alcohol and acetone used for cleaning

• Occasional lifting of up to 35 lbs
