The Specialty Materials segment manufactures products that provide more than 150 material formulations for glass, glass ceramics and fluoride crystals to meet demand for unique customer needs. Consequently, this segment operates in a wide variety of commercial and industrial markets that include display optics and components, semiconductor optics components, aerospace and defense, astronomy, ophthalmic products, telecommunications components and cover glass that is optimized for portable display devices.

 

The purpose of this position: Perform equipment maintenance, repair, and improvement in support of efficient manufacturing operations. This description is intended to provide general duties and responsibilities and not meant to be an exhaustive inventory of the role. You may be assigned and expected to perform duties not otherwise contained in this description.

 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair a variety of production and service equipment and instrumentation 
  • Understand unique production equipment and their operational functions, including all servicing and preventative maintenance schedules 
  • Performs and maintains appropriate records of preventative maintenance for all equipment 
  • Coordinates and interacts with production personnel appropriately for all repair and preventative maintenance duties 
  • Interacts with production personnel appropriately for all repair necessities and preventative maintenance scheduling 
  • Schedules and conducts utilities and equipment support services preventative maintenance 
  • Keeps appropriate records and support documentation of equipment repair and parts change history 
  • Updates, changes, and maintains files of schematics, graphics, and text files of all equipment 
  • Maintain and operate HVAC systems, chillers, plumbing systems, building management system, generators, compressed air systems
  • Keep coordinators, supervisors, and operators informed of any changes or issues while performing routine maintenance
  • Attention to consistent material handling procedures with an awareness of safe material transport according to environmental and hazardous materials protocols.
  • Perform tasks as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor

 

Working Conditions:

  • Exposure to electrical and mechanical systems 
  • Exposure to dust, dirt, equipment oil, grease, operating materials
  • Heavy lifting in rare instances typically assisted
  • Majority of time light lifting is involved  

 

Education/Experience: 

  • High School diploma and technical electronic maintenance / Trade Schooling 
  • HVAC Technical Training & Certification 
  • Mechanical maintenance in manufacturing 
  • Similar manufacturing equipment familiarity
  • Thorough understanding of machine function and equipment processes.
  • Must be proficient in the use of Volt meters, Ohm meters, flow meters, thermometers, lathes, milling machines, drill press, band and cutoff saws, pipe bending and threading equipment, metal grinders, metal shear and brake, welding equipment, micrometers, dial and digital calipers, and small hand and power tools.

The range for this position is ​$24.50 hourly rate - $35.00 hourly rate.  Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
