The intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) market segments are a primary area of focus.

 

Scope of Role:

  • As an Optical Engineer focused on System Integration, you will work to develop cost effective ways for aligning and testing both refractive and reflective optical systems for commercial and defense applications.
  • You will develop the initial system test architecture followed by designing the support test equipment and methodology. Verify and validate opto-mechanical designs for compliance.

 

Education & Experience:

  • We are seeking a MS in Optics, Physics, related disciple, or 3+ years of direct work experience with a BS.
  • Experience utilizing optical metrology instruments to verify and measure highly complex optical components and assemblies, including autocollimators, interferometers, and spectrometers.
  • Experience analyzing optical data and interpreting data for conformance to optical design intentions.
  • Communicating with optical designers and engineering teams.
  • Familiarity with measurement uncertainty budgets
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical, optical, and electrical drawings
  • Competence with development tools in optical engineering (e.g., Code V, Zemax, Matlab, SolidWorks, etc.).

 

Desired Skills:

  • Knowledge of hyperspectral and multispectral imaging systems and relevant metrology
  • Good understanding of System’s reliability, GD&T, PFMEA, and DFMA.

 

Travel:

  • We anticipate up to 10% travel for this role primarily domestic, to customer sites or other Corning facilities.

 

Required to sign a covenant not to compete.
