Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

 

Role Purpose:

Support global external manufacturing supply chain operations by managing order entry processes and ensuring timely delivery of Corning-supplied components and cable. This role collaborates closely with global planning teams and internal partners to optimize material allocation and resolve availability challenges, enabling external manufacturing partners to meet our customer requirements.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for external manufacturing partners, supporting order entry for Corning-supplied components and cable.  Respond to inquiries regarding quotations, order status, and shipments in a timely and professional manner.
  • Investigate and resolve customer issues by coordinating with cross-functional teams, including Planning, Logistics, and Quality.
  • Partner with global planners to align on allocation priorities and support execution of global material allocation strategies.
  • Execute allocation of critical components to ensure uninterrupted production at external manufacturing sites.
  • Collaborate with Corning manufacturing plants to expedite shipments and meet delivery commitments.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate material shortages through coordination with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Set up and maintain external manufacturers as customers within SAP and ensure accurate master data.
  • Develop and maintain a strong understanding of Corning products and supply chain operations.
  • Ensure data accuracy and process compliance across systems and workflows.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, service levels, and process effectiveness.

 

Experiences/Education - Required: 

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience in one or more of the following: supply chain planning, production scheduling, materials planning, procurement, logistics, or operations
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data
  • Working knowledge of inventory management principles
  • Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced, global, matrixed environment
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Word

 

Experiences/Education - Desired: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business, or technical field
  • 1+ years of supply chain experience in a global manufacturing environment
  • Proven experience collaborating with cross‑functional teams across regions and time zones
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems (e.g., SAP ECC or S/4HANA)
  • Lean / Six Sigma experience or certification
  • APICS or similar supply chain certification
  • Demonstrated project management and leadership experience

The range for this position is $63,000.00 - $86,625.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
