Role Purpose
Responsible for the financial health of a business unit. Producing financial reports and developing strategies based on financial research. Guiding senior managers in making sound business decisions in the long and short term.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the finance function, and be a key member and decision maker of the management staff
- Proactively utilize business partnership skills to move the plant to better cost understanding and higher profitability
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of accounting activities, including fixed asset management, inventory valuation, product costing, period reporting, budgeting, and overall asset and liability control
- Implement and ensure business adherence to internal finance controls including data and reporting standards and compliance (Sarbanes Oxley regulations and external audits)
- Provide finance expertise and decision-making support to business leaders to achieve division strategy
- Provide to leadership timely in-month analysis of variations to targets and mitigation options before period close
- Identify and assess the financial implications (ROI, IRR & Payback) of capital investments.
- Drive process improvement initiatives and support engineering in identifying and calculating Cost Reduction opportunities for various projects / initiatives
- Willingness to fully integrate into plant's team by spending time on production floor on a regular basis. Embrace Corning's culture and values
- Fundamental understanding on plant / product costs.
- Establish, analyze and report on key plant operational and accounting metrics. Present plant financial performance in various forums as required
- Actively participate in the development of the site’s total safety culture
- Ensure appropriate support to achieve COC’s divisional and Finance function requirements
- Drive process improvement within finance function: document existing processes (SOP's) and seek improvement opportunities to reduce complexity
- Ability to take on various ad-hoc responsibilities as required
- Source, select, and develop talent to support global and entity Finance talent needs
Experiences/Education - Required
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration; MBA is a plus
- 8 years of relevant experience, preferable manufacturing/cost accounting experience
- Controller experience desired
- Proven knowledge of US GAAP
- Knowledge of financial and management accounting, including systems, compliance and reporting
- Strong Product Costing experience including manufacturing variance analysis in a Manufacturing environment
- Effective communication and presentation skills at all levels of the organization, strong business partnership skills
- Proven experience in SAP and strong Excel skills
- Supervisory experience
- Ability to act under pressure in fast-paced environment, meeting deadlines
- Ability to develop direct reports and others

This position supports immigration sponsorship.
The range for this position is $132,649.00 - $182,393.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
