Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry. This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

 

Purpose of the Position:

Corning Wireless develops in-building cellular network infrastructure products – both small-cells and DAS, for top tier operators and enterprise customers in the US. As part of the Wireless Technology team, the Hardware Systems Architect will be the technical subject matter expert for all RAN and DAS hardware related matters.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and architect leading-edge network radio and compute solutions to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints
  • Identify and engage with potential partners for design, verification, and commercialization of in-building cellular infrastructure products
  • Perform technical evaluations of major system enhancements and major new customer requirements 
  • Monitor standards body activities (O-RAN Alliance, 3GPP, ETSI etc.)

 

Skills, Experience and Requirements:

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or a similar field (Master of Science in Electrical Engineering desired)
  • 10+ years of experience in Mobile Radio Access Network (RAN) systems with in-depth knowledge on 3GPP 5G standards in RAN & ORAN and the interface between radio network and core network
  • Experience working ODMs to initiate designs based on company and 3rd party IP
  • Experience working with global cross-functional teams
  • Excellent organizational, planning, presentation, troubleshooting, and multi-tasking skills
