Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Responsibilities:

  • Generate PMs and verify, assist and track completion
  • Work within TabWare modules of Equipment, PM’s, Work Orders, History to add, organize, set up, retrieve, and maintain information.
  • Tracks work distribution among personnel to ensure balancing of work within the areas
  • Complete PM and work order document filing and copying
  • Assist in shift training needs as required
  • Assist in daily safety efforts, tracking, compliance and corrective actions
  • Complete Housekeeping and 5S review daily for accuracy
  • Assist in organizing and filing of process audits
  • Assist in organizing process audits and experiments
  • Edit production owned documentation as needed
  • Relays instructions from supervisor 
  • Work with Production to best schedule PMs during machine downtime
  • Work with Engineering (and other salaried organizations) to define Project, work order or PM requirements and document as appropriate
  • Assist in coordinating vendor maintenance activities
  • Coordinate the plant’s pest control procedures
  • Participate in Corning’s Maintenance Network
  • Other production support activities as required

Qualifications:

  • Computer Proficiency (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Strong communication skills – verbal and written
  • Demonstrates initiative
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of production systems/operations 
  • Uses logic and methods to solve problems with effective solutions
  • Valid driver's license

Required Education:

  • High school diploma or above required
  • College associate degree or above desired
  • Previous maintenance experience desired but not required

Required Skills:

  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Computer skills - working knowledge of MS Excel, including formulas and graphing functions and PeopleSoft order entry.
  • Problem solving skills, including the ability to lead teams and delegate tasks to others in the pursuit of a solution
  • Detailed and results oriented.
  • Can discern when to follow SOP, and when SOP no longer applies to tasks.
  • Good communication skills to facilitate positive customer service
  • Supports Maintenance teams with accurate data analysis tools.

  • Familiarity with mechanical data collection tools and equipment
  • Ability to understand equipment and building drawings

The range for this position is $57,912.00 - $79,629.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
