Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry. This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.


Purpose of Position:

Define, develop, implement and manage supply chain strategies for OCS Active Electronics product lines. Manage the supply chain team and execute supply chain systems and processes in Electronics Manufacturing in CM factories. Develop a team to manage the forecasting, planning, buying, fulfillment and logistics activities. Direct and mange day-to-day activities and resolve issues pertaining to supply chain function. Develop, implement and drive periodic reports on and improvement metrics. Interface with external CM factories and Suppliers and ensure forecast, demand and fulfillment to meet customer requirements. Interface with internal teams, Sales, PLM, Engineering etc. to manage and resolve issues.

Major Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Define, evaluate and improve overall supply chain process and systems to enhance supply chain effectiveness between multiple CM factories, EMS facilities, Suppliers and internal and external customers.
  • Forecasting and Demand Planning with SNOP liaison for all Active Electronics Product lines.
  • Demand loading at multiple CM and suppliers.
  • Division supply chain strategy creation – inventory strategies for raw materials and finished goods.
  • Inventory management (for raw materials, WIP, FGs, SLOB).
  • Manage product delivery, shipping, storage and logistics management.
  • Ensure accurate and timely fulfillment of orders to customers in the most cost-efficient way.
  • Works directly with various internal customer organizations to enhance supply chain effectiveness between customer.
  • Creates development plans with direct reports, aligned with business, product, and individual development needs.
  • Tracks, communicates, and supports key metrics to achieve product team goals and objectives.
  • Creates and executes budget for supply chain activities.

Travel and location of work:

  • Up to 20% travel.
  • Includes domestic and international travel to CM factories and Suppliers.
  • Role based out of the Corning, Keller, TX facility.

Minimum Education, Skill and Experience:


  • Bachelor’s Degree (Engineering, Business or Supply Chain). Master’s degree preferred.
  • Proven strategic and tactical experience in delivering delivery improvements, cost reduction and supply chain network optimizations. Experience and results in these areas will be verified.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Active Electronics Product lines with in-depth knowledge of multilevel BOM, complex product structure and diverse supplier base.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in managing Contract Manufactures, EMS providers and suppliers for Telecom, Consumer Electronics or Industrial Electronics products.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in managing supply chain team to drive results across multiple disciplines and with increasing project responsibility.
  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on knowledge in PDM and MRP/ERP Systems. In-depth experience in Agile, SAP, Expandable preferred. Experience is PDM and supply chain management tools such as Agile, Kinaxis, Silicon Expert preferred.
  • Experience with Supply Chain Models (Demand Planning, Sourcing, Supply Planning & Execution, Logistics, Network Planning, Contract Manufacturing).
