Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

 

Role Purpose

Manages key projects with External Manufacturing that enable quicker, smoother growth and cost effectiveness for products in OCS Division.  This position will work cross functionally and Globally with Manufacturing Operations, Supply Chain, Product Engineering, PLM & Quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with Project Management Team to help manage a project
  • Understand External Manufacturing, what it means and why Corning has External Manufacturing
  • Analyze customer demand and drive production schedules and on time customer deliveries.
  • Manage day-to-day engineering and operational aspects with external manufacturers and suppliers.
  • Analyze inventory data with recommendations to help position the business to lowest inventory level while supporting revenue targets.
  • Understand and manage product Bill Of Materials, AVL, Process Maps and associated data.
  • Manage and progress product data, from design stages through NPI and volume manufacturing into EOL stage.
  • Develop and maintain impact metrics and score cards to maintain execution traceability.

Experiences/Education - Required

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain or Program Management
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing projects.
  • Basic understanding of Product Structures, Bill Of Materials, AVL.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Must be available for 10 weeks during Summer 2026 (May-August 2026) with a graduation date of December 2026 or later
  • Be interested in working for Corning, Inc after graduation, if presented with a full-time job opportunity.
  • Be willing to work at the posted job location

Experiences/Education - Desired

  • Strong communication skills and flexibility to work with multiple cultures and time zones.
  • High initiative, self-motivation and ability to work in multinational, matrix organization.
  • Results oriented approach in managing multiple workstreams.
  • Ability to analyze data, manage actions and present results.
  • Bilingual would be a plus to work globally

​The range for this position is $1,635.00 - $3,185.00 biweekly.  Starting pay for the successful applicant is prescribed based on geographic location, nature of position, and year in school.
