Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Scope of Position:
Corning, a leader in optical communications technologies, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic
design team. This role involves collaborating in a multi-disciplinary environment to develop innovative fiber optic
hardware components and assemblies. The ideal candidate will have expertise in using Creo Parametric for
designing parts, experience in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and flow analysis, and proficiency in Windchill or
similar document management systems.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with a multi-faceted teams within a multi-disciplinary environment to design fiber optic hardware components and assemblies.
  • Engage in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and mild flow analysis to validate designs.
  • Contribute to a holistic approach in product development, ensuring that designs are not developed in isolation but as part of a larger system.
  • Actively engage in learning and applying new techniques, constantly refining your approach to keep pace with
  • the evolving landscape of our field.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
  • 0-2 years product design experience.
  • 1-2 years minimum experience using CAD software

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with CAD software, preferably Creo Parametric.
  • Basic understanding or experience in FEA and flow analysis.
  • Familiarity with Windchill or similar document management systems is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • A proactive mindset with a willingness to learn and grow within the organization.
  • Experience with plastic component design (injection molded components).


Travel:
Up to 10%

 

Hours of work:
40 - hours/week with flexibility for Hybrid

The range for this position is $55,002.00 - $75,628.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
