Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

OPERATIONS ASSOCIATE  

Scope of Position:
Assembles a wide variety of established products and provides support to the cleaver repair business.

This position includes significant duties such as          
•Follow the product MPI to assemble a variety of small parts into sub or final assemblies either by hand or by use of equipment and small hand tools
•Perform conformity tests on products
•Meet departmental quality and hourly rate standards
•Inspect customer returned cleavers and record data on spreadsheet
•Maintain safety standards by using acceptable housekeeping practices on equipment and work area and contribute to 5S departmental goals.

Working Conditions
•Work requirements are demanding, small microscopic objects handled, intermittent and sequenced.
•Occasional effort in lifting boxes up to 25 pounds
•Some minimal exposure to elements of noise and dust, not disagreeable.

Education
•High School/General Education Diploma

Experience
•0 - 3 months experience in a manufacturing environment

Required Skills
•Possess good manual dexterity, visual acuity and depth perception to manipulate and measure parts
•Fluent in both spoken and written English

Soft Skills
•Team player
