Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

 

The purpose of this position is: Support production operations by assembling products, stocking, shipping and routing materials and operating machinery.

 

This position includes significant duties such as to:

  • Follow the product MPI to assemble various small parts into sub or final assemblies either by hand or by use of equipment and small hand tools
  • Perform conformity tests on products, cycle counts and other audits as required
  • Ensure that transactions are properly recorded in required systems (SAP)
  • Monitor computer screens during the testing process
  • Provide material for stocking
  • Perform inventory management, and distribution of materials to the production areas
  • Set-up, adjust, operate, troubleshoot and perform preventative maintenance as required
  • Inspect parts to specifications using vision inspection systems and other various gages
  • Gather, weigh and package parts
  • Interact with CSRs and others associated with the shipment and processing of materials and finished goods
  • Monitor the operation/output of machines and check BOM to determine required components
  • Contribute to the 5S departmental goals by maintaining the cleanliness of the production area

 

Working Conditions: 

  • Team Environment, handling various sized objects with intermittent and sequenced work
  • Bending, standing, or walking for approximately 6-8 hours per day; frequently lifting up to 25 pounds, occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds, and rarely up to 100
  • Work with chemical substances, oils and odors (minimal); ear protection in required areas

 

Education/Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Up to 3 months experience in a manufacturing environment; forklift experience a plus.
  • Able to effectively communicate in English.

The range for this position is ​$17.00 hourly rate - $19.63 hourly rate.  Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
