Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Scope of Position/Responsibilities:

  • Routinely report to management on status and performance for assigned products. 
  • Manage the master production schedule to drive materials for customer requirements and optimizing required production fluctuation and inventory levels. 
  • Establishes planning strategies to maximize the optimal MRP environment for assigned product sets. 
  • Coordinates demand recognition for new products in MRP for both new product introduction and product transfers between plants. 
  • Reviews, analyzes, and is accountable for compliance of CCS delivery performance to the most critical and most strategic customer contract requirements by customer set. 
  • Coordinating plans and execution with Product Line Management (PLM), Plant Planners, Engineering and Plant Management 
  • Participate in Sales and Operating Plan (S&OP) meetings with each Plant’s management and manufacturing team monthly to identify and resolve capacity constraints driven by the forecasting process. 
  • Supports ongoing business team activities for assigned product line(s). 
  • Engages in materials coordination and capacity facilitation with divisional and plant procurement. 
  • Translate the marketing forecast into resource requirements to assess plant/team capabilities versus forecast requirements. This includes material requirements planning based on the forecast. 
  • Analyze internal and external processes (benchmarking) to maximize efficiency of function and systems. 
  • Measure and compare actual production results against the production plan and forecast. Facilitate adjustments to ATP as required to reflect actual plant performance and realized production rates. Identify adjustments needed in resource allocations based on such changes. 
  • Lead new system implementation projects and initiatives within Planning and Procurement. 
  • Use strong system skills and business knowledge to examine the effectiveness of manufacturing and support activities and to communicate conclusions. Determine scope of improvement projects; initiate and lead improvement projects as necessary. Develop reports and analysis for continuous improvement 
  • Support production planning/master scheduling activities, including order management, resource planning, delivery promising (ATP management), production forecasting and reporting of actual manufacturing results vs. plan. Provide back up to certain planning functions. 
  • Serve as department liaison with the Production, Engineering, and Kaizen Departments. Work closely with production coordinators and team leaders to establish short- term and long-term expectations and execution of the production plan.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree is required, a Supply Chain degree is helpful.

Required Years and Area of Experience:

  • The ideal candidate will have between 2-5 years’ of Supply Chain experience.
