Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Scope of Position:
Work closely with engineers to perform experiments, conduct data analysis/compile reports, and develop process technologies and solutions to validate design and assembly processes.
Apply process engineering learnings to document and transfer knowledge and products into manufacturing.

 

Day to Day Responsibilities:
Coordinate with global manufacturing resources to evaluate proposed solutions and support implementation of new process technologies and designs.
Provide project support to evaluate process concepts through configuration and modification of lab-based systems.
Support the design, fabrication, and assessment of experimental fixturing and identify and implement improvements.

 

Required Qualifications:
Associate degree in a technical discipline preferred or military equivalent OR
2+ years’ experience in an experimental laboratory/manufacturing environment
Experience in computer aided design to create tooling, parts, products, or manufacturing processes. (Creo and SolidWorks a plus)
Strong sense of technical curiosity and desire to understand “How things work.”
Understanding of typical measurement, hand, and electrical tools, e.g. calipers, drills, cable strippers, etc.

 

Desired Qualifications:
Capable of performing data analysis using MS excel (SPC), or statistical software such as JMP or Minitab.
Experience in manufacturing environment.
Able to make sounds decisions based on data and analytical thinking with practical judgment.

The range for this position is  $45,924.00   -  $63,146.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
