Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Purpose of Position: Develop, maintain, and support Products and Manufacturing Processes for Active Electronics Products.


Major Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and manage product quality and yields improvement activities with contract manufacturers.
  • Develop, organize, and maintain product data via PDM system
  • Create and manage product BOM, AVL, Process Maps, and associated data
  • Escort product data, from design stages (PCBA, Module, System) through NPI and volume manufacturing into EOL stage.
  • Own and manage Change Management- oversee and execute ECR, ECO, MCO and Deviation.
  • Develop change impact metrics and maintain execution traceability
  • Work with DFM guidelines methodology, including review of product, process, test, and quality data.
  • Train and deploy new product BOM hierarchy, assembly guide & testing fixtures as part of product manufacturing workflow.


Travel and Location of Work:

  • Up to 25% travel. Includes travel in domestic and overseas.
  • Role based out of the Corning, Keller, TX facility


Minimum Education, Skill and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering: Electronics/Mechanical/Industrial Engineering or Associated Discipline
  • A recent college graduate or a professional with 1- 3 years of experience in Engineering and Manufacturing environment with full understanding of multi-level Product Structures, BOM, AVL, MPN Data


Desired Skills and Experience Requirements:

  • Experience in Product Data Management for multilevel BOM in platforms such as Agile, Oracle, SAP, Windchill, etc.
  • Experience in product structuring, process development, process evaluation, quality management, process management and production floor
  • Project management skills in transferring Product, Process and Test from design to manufacturing.
  • Experience working with CAD systems.
  • Strong communication and flexibility to work with multiple cultures and time zones.
  • High initiative, self-motivated, and has the ability to work in multinational, matrix organization.
