Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to be a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry. This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Scope of Position

 

You are responsible for aligning supply and demand for global tier 1 contract manufacturers. You will work collaboratively with the supply chain team, product line manager, and plant planners to plan and execute supply plans which optimize service delivery, cash flow and minimize liability. You are responsible for administering S&OP to identify issues and develop and implement solutions. You will drive consistency and share best practices related to supply planning. We are champions, in the development and management of Value Stream Maps for assigned product lines to drive continuous improvement.

 

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Lead S&OP process, long term capacity planning, and communicating customer demand.
  • Develop and deploy inventory strategies that align with OCS’ best practices and improve the value to Corning.
  • Manage and optimize tier 1 contract manufacturers capacities based upon demand.
  • Support NAFTA’s Partnership Meeting (S&OP).
  • Ensure effective communication with global counterparts to realize global flexibility.
  • Coordinate activities with plant and global resources to improve speed and flexibility.
  • Support Demand Management meetings as required for products.
  • Support development and execution of Supply Chain agility plans.
  • Represent manufacturing in forecast consensus meeting to balance statistical forecast with commercial inputs.
  • Work with the forecasting team to provide best possible MPS/MRP plans to plant through SAP ERP.
  • Assure effective implementation of planning strategies to optimize inventory and customer service metrics.
  • Evaluate inventory stocking plans relative to actual inventory/service levels and work with tactical planner/buyers to adjust inventory stocking plans as needed.
  • Support monthly item reviews ensuring optimal MPS settings and inventory targets aligned to the project framework.
  • Execute value stream map for key product lines from supplier to customer and drive the resulting actions.
  • Support cost saving initiatives.
  • Join in product team meetings as required.
  • Advise product teams on critical considerations related to product life-cycle.
  • Assist in the development of supply chain strategy and roadmap.

 

Travel Requirements

  • 10% of the time, including domestic and international.

 

Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time:

  • Full-time with the expectation to flex work schedule to support meetings and work in foreign time zones as needed.

 

Required Education:

  • Bachelors’ Degree (Supply Chain major preferred).

 

Required Years and Area of Experience:

  • 5+ years of Supply Chain (Plan, Make, Source, Deliver, and Enable) experience.
  • 2+ years of Contract Manufacturing/OEM Experience.

 

Required Skills:

  • Validated proficiency in MPS/MRP planning in a modern ERP system.
  • Strong communication in a multi-national; multi-cultural environment.
  • Effective presentation skills; translating complex data into easy to understand actionable information.
  • Deep understanding of all aspects of inventory management.
  • Ability to motivate a team daily and to achieve long term goals.
  • Ability to direct, lead, and work with diverse groups of people.
  • Ability to work independently in a dynamic business and manufacturing environment.
  • Prioritize and execute multiple tasks.
  • Ability to comprehend, analyze, and solve complex process problems.
  • Ability to change priorities and tasks when necessary.
  • Ability to drive strategic vision for the Contract Manufacturing and APAC planning team.
  • Demonstrated ability to use LEAN techniques.
  • Strong SAP knowledge.

 

Desired Skills:

  • MBA or equivalent
  • Fluent/proficient in Spanish
  • APICS Certification
