Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry. This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Scope of Position

You will be involved in the overall planning, implementation, and optimization of all activities and support required for delivery of products to customers from materials acquisition through distribution. The primary focus includes authorizing materials acquisition, supply intelligence, supplier/manufacturing capacity knowledge, industry knowledge and transportation cost alternatives.


Day to Day Responsibilities

  • You will utilize your knowledge of Supply Chain concepts and principles in all decision processes.
  • You will work to coordinate schedules with customer service, suppliers, receiving, manufacturing, and shipping to ensure customer’s requirements are met. Utilize MRP system to develop purchasing plans and production schedule for assigned products while balancing operational efficiency.
  • Have accountability for raw material and finished goods inventory goals driven by strategic stocking decisions based on contract, business strategy, or material availability needs.
  • You will drive to a resolution of material availability for common materials across multiple production lines.
  • Work with cross functional teams to coordinate long term supply issues with Divisional Purchasing, Divisional Planning and Product Line Management.
  • You will support new product implementation, and coordinates materials for the final release to manufacturing operations. This activity requires working very closely with Regional Planning and project teams.
  • To be successful, you will support product transfer and coordination with both the transferring and the receiving Plants. This activity requires working very closely with Regional Planning to assure schedule integrity and inventory management.
  • You will analyze and implement solutions or strategies for business problems based on the analysis of the customer’s business goals, objectives, needs, existing systems infrastructure and input from senior personnel.
  • Contributes to the achievement of organizational goals through Continuous Improvement Suggestion Program using Supply Chain and Lean concepts.
  • Performs monthly surveillance of all Planning objectives to assure alignment to divisional goals and strategies.
  • Sources and purchases raw materials, packaging materials, parts, services, and/or supplies necessary for operation of an organization.
  • Supports divisional procurement, transportation, supplier management and logistics operations to ensure customer’s requirements are met.


Analyst Responsibilities

  • Leads/facilitates daily production meeting with a cross-functional team of 15-20 people to review daily performance and requirements and prioritize daily activities.
  • Coordinates and analyzes plant’s Cost Reduction Portfolio by gathering project information from several individuals or departments and compiling results on a monthly basis to understand performance and drive further improvements.
  • Manages delivery metrics (OTP, OCT, PLT) by pulling required data from information system and distributing to planner/buyer team for exception, root cause, and trend analysis.
  • Coordinates and analyzes metrics for Distribution Center.
  • Coordinates and analyzes alternate supplier qualification through GSM, Engineering, Production, and Quality.
  • Special project assignments as required.


Travel Requirement

  • Travel will not be extensive in this role, less than 5% Domestic/International travel is required.


Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time

  • This role is a 40 hour/week role in business core hours.



  • A Bachelor's degree is requred, a Supply Chain degree is helpful.


Required Years and Area of Experience

  • The ideal candidate will have between 2-5 years’ of Supply Chain experience.
