Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Scope of Position:

This position is to provide direction to, supervision of, and oversight of warehouse and associated workers who fulfill orders in our 3PL warehouses. The position is responsible for order management to include all steps required to efficiently fill orders and to maintain inventory accuracy.

 

Responsibilities:

• Manages the 3PL warehouse operations including end-to-end processes (storage, picking, packing, replenish, cycle counting, dock management, loading, and shipping) to meet customer and Corning requirements (on time, every time).

• Oversees stocking plans are defined and executed to.

• Lead and provide expertise for the day-to-day dispatch of customer orders on the floor and in WMS and ERP systems.

• Coordinates with project management on job issuing and material status

• Troubleshoot inventory variances through paperwork audits and floor production audits.

• Daily reporting and correspondence to internal and external customers including carriers.

• Responds to all internal and external customer requests and concerns.

• Oversee incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure order accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments

• Works closely with Planning and Transport departments to assure freight are sequenced properly and documents are correct and complete.

• Lead for logistics management and coordination

• Manage staff planning to ensure resources are effectively trained and utilized to maximize output while minimizing costs.

• Responsible to ensure departmental staff operates according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Work Instructions (WI), including training new hires or change management when SOP and WI are updated.

• Responsible for meeting operations important metrics. Update daily reports and take corrective actions when setting critical metrics are not meeting the target.

• Support continuous improvement to raise efficiencies.

 

Required Skills / Experience:

• Proven track record on improving processes (lean out the waste).

• Strong understanding of warehouse or manufacturing operations, technologies, training methods, etc.

• Strong understanding of SAP WMS and ERP system

• Experience interacting with 3PL and Logistics teams

• Excellent people management skills.

• Comfortable dealing with conflict management and difficult conversations.

• Proactive, data-based problem solving, ability to effectively deal with ambiguity.

• Focused on processes and able to establish/design, implement, and measure processes effectively.

• Able to develop leadership skills indirect reports.

• Microsoft office suite experience, with proficient Excel skills.

• Able to set and communicate priorities and work in a dynamic business environment.

• Ability to maintain schedule flexibility based on shift coverage needs.

 

Education and Area of Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain or APICS certification preferred with 3-5 years of warehouse, inventory, or supply chain experience

• 5-7 years equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in lieu of Bachelor’s degree will be considered

• Knowledge and understanding of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems. SAP experience preferred

• Ability to communicate effectively, both written and oral, throughout all levels of the organization

 

Travel Requirements: 10% to 3PL warehouse locations
